### International Poster Exhibition in Bologna: Where Science Met Art

### DNA → RNA → protein → poster

In May 2026, Bologna became the stage for a distinctive international encounter between advanced biomedical research and contemporary poster art. Presented within the framework of TRANSLACORE, the International Poster Exhibition **“Where Science Meets Art”** brought the molecular world of translational control in cancer into a vivid public conversation.

The exhibition invited artists to interpret one of the most dynamic areas of cancer biology: the regulation of protein synthesis. In living cells, genetic information is translated into proteins, but in cancer this process can be reprogrammed to support survival, growth, adaptation and cell resistance. The poster exhibition transformed these complex mechanisms into visual metaphors, symbolic systems, bold compositions and emotionally resonant images. This scientific framing is consistent with the exhibition’s own description of translation as a highly regulated cellular process that cancer can reprogram, creating vulnerabilities that TRANSLACORE aims to understand. 

What made the Bologna edition especially powerful was its ability to speak simultaneously to two audiences. For researchers, the exhibition offered a fresh lens on their own field - molecular pathways, ribosomes, RNA regulation and cancer plasticity reimagined through visual language. For the broader public, it opened an accessible entrance into cancer research without reducing its complexity. Instead of presenting science as distant or abstract, the posters made it visible, and discussable.

**The exhibition also continued the spirit of TRANSLACORE’s earlier “Where Science Meets Art” activities. TRANSLACORE pages document Biennale 2023 and Biennale 2025 editions under this same science-art identity, while the Bologna exhibition expanded the initiative into an international public event connected to the Action’s 2026 meeting.**

Organised under TRANSLACORE supervision and in collaboration with the International Poster Biennale Lublin and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, the exhibition demonstrated how interdisciplinary communication can strengthen both science and society. Posters became more than artworks, they became bridges between laboratory knowledge, clinical hope, public imagination and the cultural life of Bologna.

**The International Poster Exhibition in Bologna showed the power of visual culture to expand the reach of biomedical research. By placing translational control in cancer into the hands of artists, TRANSLACORE created a memorable public-facing event where scientific complexity became visible, approachable and emotionally resonant. In Bologna, the language of cells became the language of posters — and the result was a vivid celebration of science, art and international collaboration.**

Science Seen Differently: TRANSLACORE in Bologna. In Bologna, science did not stay inside the conference room. It moved into public space, into images, into conversation. The International Poster Exhibition “TRANSLACORE – Where Science Meets Art” created a striking encounter between cancer biology and visual culture, inviting both researchers and the broader public to see translational-control research from a new perspective.
