# **POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN THE FIELD OF TRANSLATIONAL CONTROL IN CANCER**

## **Job description:**

We are looking for a highly motivated Post-doctoral Researcher for a full-time position at the Biffo’s lab, at the National Institute of Genetics (www.ingm.org). The position will be funded through the University of Milan and a Telethon grant. We investigate how eIF6 activity regulates translation at post-termination ribosomes, in the context of cancer biology and Schwachman-Diamond syndrome [1, 2].

You will work in a collaborative research environment, with expertise in translational control. The institute offers extensive capability to work with unique, human experimental samples as well as mice models. A desire to learn mouse biology is favoured, in order to achieve physiologically relevant data. Most of the work will be however in the context of edited cell lines. 

_Remuneration:_
€29,500 - €34,500 (dependent on qualifications and experience).

**Freshly graduated Ph.Ds., are encouraged to apply.** The applicant will be tutored also in the process of grant application, fellowship application. The project relies on reagents proprietary to the lab, and extensive know-how.

## **The institute:**

The laboratory is located in the center of the city in a novel building encompassing two start-up companies, and immunological laboratories.

_Skills/Qualifications:_
- PhD in cell biology, or related fields.
- Good track record of scientific publications
- Strong background in cellular and molecular biology.
- A desire to work in the field of translational control. Communication: Excellent written and spoken English.
- Collaborative spirit with other team members; willingness to learn new techniques; engagement in constructive discussions
- Proficiency in working with mice models, experience in scRNAseq and knowledge in basic R programming are a plus.
